Downside of using alternatives
Compounded "bio-identical" hormones are neither safer nor the answer.
Estradiol patches & gels from big pharma are produced under strict supervision by federal agencies with superb quality control & decent if not ideal delivery patterns. Indeed they too are "bio-identical", if you must use this inaccurate, indeed misleading word. In contrast compounded preparations are produced without federal or official oversight and may suffer from variable concentrations, both from lot to lot & from pharmacy to pharmacy & they tend to have highly erratic, variable delivery patterns, generating potentially dangerous estradiol dips capable of triggering coronary artery spasm & selectively fueling an increased breast cancer risk as well.
