Beware pseudo-experts
Beware self-appointed experts in jargon-dense fields.
Even the most brilliant consumers, if they lack scientific background & training are extremely vulnerable to pseudo-scientific gobbledygook. It's so easy to sound like an expert by throwing around fancy words & jargon, or to write successfully published, well- marketed books filled with so much utter nonsense. Most of the books I have found in the health sections of bookstores are written by exploitive opportunists targeting frustrated patients with their own arbitrary, often irrational ideas. Two wrongs do not make a right.
