Symptoms of the menopause
The symptoms of menopause vary greatly from woman to woman and may be few & minor or frequent and miserable. They are no laughing matter.
Intrusive menopausal symptoms occur when falling hormone levels trigger excessive reactions in the autonomic nervous system and temperature controls of the body. The symptoms are highly unpleasant and include hot & cold flashes & temperature control glitches, although these symptoms may be very minor or even absent in some women. The hormone-deprive pelvis is also a source of symptoms including vaginal dryness and painful intercourse with urinary incontinence and frequent urination as well as superimposed bladder infections. The bladder is rich in estrogen receptors and requires them for normal functioning. Although not life-threatening, none of these symptoms are in any way insignificant.
